just a quick question lads, i changed my oil with some 5/40 100% synthetic oil about 10k ago, i just wondered when i would need to change it again?

its your choice but I would change it, an interesting artical I read, a bloke runs a fleet of BMW's some petrol some diesel, he found it was the filter that comes to the end of its life before the oil,, so by changing just the filter every 6000 miles then toping the oil up he was getting over 25,000 miles out of the oil, and when tested at this milage the oil was still well usable,, but remember all his cars do 100,000 miles a year mainly M way

Fully synth? - every 10,000 miles or every year will do just fine.

Assuming you also changed the oil filter

It depends on the specification of the oil
If it is "ordinary" then 10K miles is about the limit
if it is "Long Life" then 20K miles is the limit (on your car from your profile)

In another industry we had the oil changed on petrol/diesel engines done every 4k & these engines used to run for 18 some 24hrs a day and lived to 350k petrol and 500k diesel, So if you want it to last for a long time change it regular but like most get shut after 3 years then there not bothered about it's lifetime condition.

Me, i would suggest every 10K or once a year... a little investment you will get back in its later years, done this myself "touching wood" havnt had any issues.

yup just ordered xcess 5-40 fully syn oil and filter..
