vec on the autobahn

just got back from a 1500mile round trip to see the mrs parents in germany, drove it cos i wanted to pick some stuff up and test the car on the autobahns, soo much roadworks throughout germany at the moment though slowed us right up, alot of the time struggled to do more than 70mph, but when i had chance to open it up i did, its a 3.0 cdti auto thats been chipped, its ex police so the speedo is calibrated, and i also confirmed it with teh sat nav, manufacture says 140mph, i was doing 145 at 3.5k revs quite happy with that but 140mph is only 26mpg were as 90 is 44mpg it certainly upset a few of the big luxury car drivers when they have to move over to let a vectra through

sounds like here the missus dont like german motorways.. and not liking me driving with only 4500 RPM in 5 gear on my vec.. (its not even fast....)

Couple of Vec Autobahn vids you newer guys might not have seen. The first one if before the launch of the Insignia, Imagine what the pickup driver was thinking when a load of vecs swarm over him LOL. The second one is the Vectra-C.com Irmscher trip.

there was one funny point where some people obviously wait for a car that they think will be a match and try to burn them off, there was another vec same as mine i didnt realise at first i think niether did he but ever time we floored it we couldnt loose each other it was matched perfectly almost like a long toe rope

Used to have great fun in my old V6 CDTI. Cant wait to take my 2.8 this year :-)
