    Thumbs down Cdti vectra with whining

    HI guys ive recently bought a 56 vectra life 120 with 70k ive got a whine that is really loud, higher the revs louder it gets ive reved it abit well idling you get abit of noise nothing to bad,leave it idling it quiet goes into all gears fine.any help would be great

    The CDTi turbo is quite whiney.

    Does it do it with the Air con off? Mines had a noise of a similar nature, only by chance when I switched the Air con off while it was doing it, it stopped doing it. I assume you mean whine/squeal? They usually 'whir' from 1,500rpm to about 3,000rpm.

    Cheers for the replys guys its really loud my missus could hear it behind in her car,anyway to check if it is the alternator

    some may suggest removing the belt & trying it but its a bit fiddly to get back on.
