why does light switch contol unit push in ?????

my signum light switch cluster goes in wards on a slide ,even the light switch knob pushes in ,anyone tell me why ,i had to take pannel off under steering wheel and pressed the light switch and it all slid backward ,but carnt figuire out why ???????? regards mick

if you push the knob in and turn the knob to the right(as if your turning the lights on)and pull.
it the way it releases the switch from is housing

Hi Guys. Have removed the dash trim ready to fit the cubby trim, but I cannot remove the light switch. I can get it to move (turning lights on full and pressing the switch in hard, but although the unit moves backwards as if to come out, it stops moving after about a centimetre and it's like I'm hitting a brick wall, it will not slide right out.
What did I miss ?

A really quick answer would be fantastic because as said, dash is out and don't really want to put everything back before I have to go out.

Push the knob in hard BEFORE you turn it. Turn it to side lights whilst holding it in and then the whole assembly will basically just slide out.

Cheers Ian, you're a STAR Next problem though is the unit pops out from the front and means I need to unplug the wiring loom from the switch, again, something that doesn't want to budge

There's a small catch you push in on the plug then an arm that moves down (the catch is holding the arm in place). I'll see if I can find a pic anywhere.
