Default Accelerator cutting out - is it meant to?

Having done a lot of trouble-free miles in the Signum (150) I encoutered my first long haul jam on the A34 last Saturday. Took approx 1 hours to move 6 miles. On several occasions the spanner came on in the dash. When I next tried to move forward there was no response from the accelerator pedal, put foot down but the engine kept idling away. It was not untill I turned the ignition off and restarted did the accelerator respond again as normal. This happened maybe 4/5 times.
I'm skint so can't afford to take it to dealer. Any ideas?

I have no idea sorry but over the 3-1/2 years I have had it my car has thrown tons of wobblies. I wouldn't worry about it as a one-day occurance. If it becomes regular perhaps then take it further....

Follow the 'how 2' for cleaning the EGR & BOOST SENSOR also cleaning & checking the throttle body wouldn't go a miss, all these can be done free apart from buying some carb cleaner (highly recommended) you can most certainly reuse all gaskets as i have done this many times , just take your time removing the parts & you'll be fine, dont forget when you have the EGR removed clean out the small hole where it fits onto the manifold (the hole in the manifold itself) this always gets blocked up with sooty crap.

It will be the throttle position sensor, mine done the same thing. Common fault on earlier CDTI's. I would say this is your problem:

Get the codes read and I won't be surprised if fault code P0638 turns up.
