    Default buying guide

    hi guys, im looking to get a vec vxr soon, is there anything in particular i need to look for? obv i know about accident damage, service historys, knocks/bange/smokes on startup etc but is there any problems that the vec vxr suffers from? tail tail signs to look out for?

    Well they are not really specific to the VXR but all Vecs/Siggs are prone to springs breaking, so have a good feel around and see if you can feel anything. Dependant on what wheels they have 19" Snowies are prone to cracking which will need a replacement so keep an eye out for that. Coil packs are prone to go on the 2.8t which usually shows as lumpy running and IIRC the rev needle flickering. Also there has been qquite a few cases where VXR owners have put car into first gear and its actually selected reverse instead which has to be sorted by the dealer. The header tanks tend to crack which was a Vx recall so check to see if its got a black tank or see through - if its black its been done all ready. They are a pretty robust engine but just look at the usual stuff - oil, water, tyre wear etc etc and fsh is really a must. Hope this helps.

    where do the wheels crack? inside i assume?
