    Default battlefield tour...

I'm going to do an arnham battlefield tour and I was wondering if anyone has done it before, who did they go with, was it good???

    should be going early march.

    thanks if you can help.

please note that I use the word 'good' loosely, I appreciate thats its not for fun, I just want it to be an enjoyable experience - thanks.

    Mate, Its excellent.

I did this tour about 5 years ago. We caught the late ferry to Cherbourg, and stood up on the cliffs overlooking the beaches as the sun came up. Probably one of the most evocotive moments i have ever experienced.

From there we moved down to Arromanches and were told all about the D-Day landings and the Mulburry Harbours.

Next day we went to Arnham and the Pegasus bridge. After that, we went to the American cemetery and St Marie Anglese where the paratrooper is still hanging from the church spire!!

All i can say it must be one of the best weekends i have ever experienced. Its enjoyable, emotional and moving.

You will enjoy every minute of it.

    Rgds

There was a self organized group of us who went.

We then paid for the guided tours at the various points along the route we took.

its only a few £ for each guided tour, but worth every penny.

Sorry, i was getting confused... It was the D-Day landing area which we did. For some strange reason i was associating Pegaus Bridge and Arnhem being in the same place.

Never the less, if you are into this sort of thing, any battlefield tour is an amazing experience. I have also done the Mout Longdon, Tumbledown and Kent tour in the Falklands. Even though it was a relatively recent battle, it brings home the hardship the guys had to endure.

Hope you get some good pics of your tour.. Ill dig some out of the D-Day tour i did and post them up.
