Signum stalling please help!!

Guys, any advice appreciated................

Went out this afternoon as normal drove about 5 miles to drop kids off, stopped car took kids in got back in car drove off and car engine cut out after about 1/2 mile with a spanner/car showing on the dash. Waited a minute or so, car started up again but cut out again after a couple hundred yards. Kept doing this so abandoned car, nightmare day!!
It has never done this before or had any warning that something could be wrong. It is a 2.2 direct on a 05 plate if that helps.

Please help, really messes our life up with no car!

Is it fine on tick over? just when you try to accelerate?

I could be wrong here but I believe a bad fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator is common to go on the 2.2's...

if youve got a fault light, then there will be a code stored,

do you know if anyone has a code scanner nearby?

what about crankshaft sensor? these seem to cause all manner of problems ?

i'd suggest a code read before you proceed

The car runs fine until it cuts out, its a though there is some sort of immobiliser cutting the power? Can't believe it's just happened randomly?

does sound a bit like a sensor fault....

You need to get the codes read really. Could be any number of things

Thanks for all the info guys, there is an independent vauxhall specialist locally (Vauxcare, Wirral) so I think it best to try and get it there on their diagnostics.
