The rounded corners aren't the big issue when fitting a facelift surround onto a preface (rounded corner into square corner fits but leaves a small gap in the corner)... the main issue is the dash trim sits differently in the base of the surround... so no I don't believe it can be made to fit... however if you are getting it as part of the whole job lot then try it and see... as you could always source a surround if required...
Cheers Fella.
Do you think Vauxhall with have my eyes out for a new vent trim ?
Dunno mate... maybe you will get away with a kidney... lol
The vent surround will fit. (with slight modification)
dont worry about the dash strip, as its the dashbord it self thats differ, not the sourrund that much.
Sorry Ken but on my preface I originally fitted the facelift vent trim and although it physically fit the space provided the base of the vents sat too low which meant there was no way it could be modified to allow the dash trim to fit...
What I mean is that the plastic strip where the holes are at the base of the vent trim (this sits behind the dash trim) is smaller on the facelift than the preface so although the screw holes line up; when it's fitted there isn't enough space for the preface dash trim to fit.

think i read somewhere on the forum that 5-10 mm on the back had to be removed.. so it would fit in nicely... (dont know where and how to be excatly)
I have done this very mod to the wife's Vectra
2006 facelift vent assembly into a 2005 pre-face dash.
What I had to do was grind about 3 to 5mm off the top of the vent surround, otherwise the 4 mounting holes at the bottom will be too low.
This is a rough dimension, as the surround is rounded along the top, as well as having rounded corners.
and also the trim strip that runs across the dash from the glove box will not slot back in until the top is ground off.
Can't remember if I had to skim a bit off the sides aswell...
Do the top bit first, and check for size and fit...before doing anything else.
As said though, there will still be some roundedness showing in the top corners of the surround, when you fit it to your dash.
Here's mine (Well the wife's)
Cheers chaps thanks for the help and ideas
