Does anyone know if brake pipe corrosion is an MOT fail? The reason I ask is a friends car was MOT's 2 weeks ago, today there is brake fluid spewing out of a hole due to corrosion!
Should this have been a fail or advisory?

Definatly a fail imo.
The pipe must have been pretty bad at mot time go completely after 2 weeks
Exactly my opinion too. She's not a happy bunny!
Fail I would say. But if you went back and moaned they would probably only say It was safe on the day it was checked.
As far as we know there wasn't even an advisory issued though Ed
I bet they didn,t check it well enough. If they did they should have noticed the corrosion.
Firstly do not get it fixed yet
Then have a read of this
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...Mot/DG_4022113
There should be no problems with corrosion related problems within the first 3 months so she definatly has a case
It has to be fixed John as it's needed for work etc. I'll pass the link on though. Cheers
TBH for any appeal to be looked at the car shouldn't really be repaired. As annoying and inconvenient as it is
Hope she gets it sorted though
It would also depend where the hole is and if it was visable when it went for the MOT.
If it was covered in dirt/mud etc they cant remove anything inc dirt/mud.
