How much have you paid for an alternator?

Just wondered if any of you have had to change an alternator on a cdti yet and if so how much did one cost?
Mine has decided to pack in on me yesterday and I've had a look round my usual places on the net and a genuine bosch part is over 400 quid? Surely there must be somewhere that does them cheaper than that or should I just go and get my original re-con'd?

i paid a garage 70 to fit but would now do it myself having seen how easy it is..

Better the 500 vauxhall wanted...

In Brum, we had ours done for about £80, re-con unit with exchange.

£99.99 for a brand new (not reconditioned) Denso alternator on Ebay. Very fast delivery, fitted and working with no problems

When the wife's Golf alternator packed in I went to Euro carparts and got one for £165 it was OEM quality and was a lot less than the £335 VW wanted.

Got mine for 100 quid on ebay. No problems with it.

Got mine for £90(recon with exchange), and saved myself the fitting costs aswell,

Mine went this weekend and cost...

Wait for it.....

£516! Including fitting for a Bosch unit at Nationwide Autocentre. Luckily the warranty I have paid for it all.

I phoned main dealer and with trade club discount they wanted £303 for an exchange unit.
