quick vectra b question

sorry if posted in wrong section but in a bit of a rush =) looking at car on ebay with an hour to go

father-in-laws vec b 2.0 sri (140bhp) has had its day and he has spent alot of money on it so is looking to get another vec b in good condition and strip the knackered 1 down and keep the good bits.. he is looking at a 1.8 sri (120bhp) my question is are all parts interchangeble engine wise and exhaust or does he need to stick with a 2.0 (140bhp)

Most things are interchangable as long as the 1.8 is a X18XE and not a X18XE1 iirc.

The obvious things like major engine parts will not be swappable, though.

Whats wrong with the 2.0?

its gonna cost a bit to get it threw the mot and he has spent £800 quid on it in the last year so doesnt really wanna waste all the new bits he has bought if that makes sense so he wants to buy 1 in good nick as he likes em and just have all the spares to hand like exhaust, radiator and other things

Most things are interchangable across the 1.8 and 2.0. One thing to note is the 1.8 has four stud wheels whereas the 2.0 has five stud.

If fancy wheels are concerned then the hubs and brakes from the 2.0 can be fitted to the 1.8.

The EGR system may be different, I had a SRi 140 that had no EGR system at all and the exhaust manifold was blanked where it would normally be fitted.

I can't see there being any difference in the radiator. The exhaust from cat back will fit no problem, the downpipes should also be the same if its a X18XE. I'm not sure about X18XE1. Did the Vectra B get a Z18 engine?

will the cats be the same as he has had 1 of those fitted recently aswell as a water pump

The cat is attached to the downpipe, if the 1.8 is a X18XE then it should be the same. What year is the 1.8 he's looking at?

Water pump may be the same.

The facelift vectra b uses an x18xe1 or a z18xe
The x20xev engine is completely different to these 2 so unless its a pre 99 x18xev then no engine parts will fit..

Aye. The X20XEV and X18XE are very similar. I know the X18XE1 was quite different, but wasn't sure when the Z18 appeared.
