Default Mileage advice needed *not vectra related*

Is 75-100K miles on a 3 yr old BMW or Audi Diesel engine something to be cautious of? Obviously a company car which is fine as I know they are maintained and most likely motorway miles. Im more concerned with the overall life left in the engine.

I'm no diesel expert (having never owned one! ), but from what I know I'd say that 75 odd thousand is nicely run in for a diesel!

When we got our last car (cavalier 2ltr - M reg) in '98' it had 85k on it.
wife uses this car now and it has about 190k on it, still goes well.

The engine will go for ever, the problem is that the seats, suspension, gearbox etc etc have all done that kinda mileage so will be getting tired ...

As Tommy says Andy, the engine wouldn't be a concern for me. I'd tend to look at suspension especially shock absorbers, wear and tear on the interior (sit in both seats in the front to compare), clutch operation/life remaining, brake disc wear.

Yeah, I would be looking to move a car on by that mileage, not buy it.
Of course the quality of cars is better now a days than it has ever been, but don't expect it to feel like new, and of course the higher the mileage goes, the higher the likelyhood of a big repair bill coming along.

I can't see a problem is there is 'full' service history. As Tommy has said it's the suspension, brakes etc that are the worry, but if there's a comprehensive history on the car you can check for yourself. Some dealers will give you a full repeort of any work that the manufacturer has carried out.

    Any doubts walk away.

If it's a Beemer that you look at, check the rear springs because they eat them like the Vecs do

    One word of advice.
    BMW 2ltr diesels. Beware.
The injectors sieze in the head, so replacement is a nightmare. BMW have a special slide hammer for removal but that sometimes cracks the head, leaving you with a £1k bill. They warn you of this before they attempt removal. Also applies to Freelander and Rover 75 with the same engine.

It's a must (in my opinion) to get a Full Report from someone like the AA or RAC for a car with this kind of mileage.
