Strange engine light issue

Vauxhall signum 1.9cdti 120, my54. Car had Spanner and car symbol about 3 mins after start up, went out when engine restarted. Now it has been replaced by the engine symbol on its own that stays on afterstart up. Car isn't in limp mode, idols fine, runs fine. ANY IDEA'S? Us it safe to use till it's booked in on Wednesday?

2 years ago it came up with cars spanner symbol turned out to be glow plug.

March this year limp mode and engine symbol was diesel partical filter, after a blown intercooler. Never had the two related.

if its running fine, tempted to say glow plug but then you might have egr issue to boot

test you're glow plugs anyway with 12v source.....beware they get very very hot....if all ok then problem elsewhere.

also replace diesel fuel filter + drain if its older than 12 months as water in fuel system sometimes produces odd warning lights,

if egr well strip egr and clean and replace as per how too.

clean boost sensor

clean MAF sensor with pure alcohol


this shouild exclude most common reasons...

oh and get a code reader if you can.....will help narrow problems down
