Default Good MPG from a VXR!

Hey guys, just returned from a trip to Centre Parks Suffolk with the family and thought id tell you how well the car did on the way there and back.

We drove from Hull to Suffolk and back, thats all (as you cant use your car around the forests ect) and thats a distance of around 400 miles in total.

So Monday morning we filled up and brimmed the tank. Cost about £65 as it was quite low.

The roads there are pretty long A roads, no motorway, lots of roundabouts and some driving in town through Kings Lynn, and a small amount of dual carridgeway. All of this was reversed on the way back but included a small diversion for roadworks.

The car has avaraged 32.4 MPG!!! and used only half a tank to get there and even less on the way back!!!

Im very impressed with the way its behaved on our short break. Anyone thinking of buying one but worried about fuel consumption? Not a problem in these as long as you dont cane it.

The car normally does from my house to work and back everyday and a few other trips and jobs and im normally only getting 25MPG so im very happy with that.

Just thought id share this with you all

    Vehicle : Vectra GSi 3.2 V6

Filling my GSi up and then driving straight onto the M10, then M1, then traffic, then motorway, then in town for a few miles following a blast across on the A5 (to Hinckley), I recorded an average of 39.8 mpg! Now that rocks for a 3.2-litre V6. I've got a photo as evidence! (I'll try to remember to post it later.)

From what I've read, though, 32.4 mpg from a VXR is pretty darned special! So nice work!

Were these fill to fill or using the computer? The computer usually over estimates MPG....

So, what did you think to Elveden Forest Center Parcs? My wife works at the Sherwood forest one..

^^ Computer in my case. Hmmmm. Perhaps I ought to check it against cold, hard arithmetic, then.

    ... Or maybe not!

I've had 41 mpg out of my VXR... but thats 56 mph on cruise for miles and miles on the motorway.... like a saint.

Easy get 32 mpg if you take it nice and steady...

    Average 27 mpg cruising speeds

    Average 23 mpg around towns

    7 mpg on track

If you set cuise control at 80 mph in 6th gear, you're just under the turbo coming on boost... so it stays reasonable.. any more or drop a gear and forget nice mpg figures cos the turbo eats them all up

Couple of my mates have Vectra vxr's and it's costing a mint to run them, both of them get around 19mpg in town and a motorway blast gives around 24mpg with consumption on a long run being around 30mpg, what's the point in having a Vxr Vectra and pussy footing around in them, they are built to be enjoyed and driven hard, if you want more mpg go and get something else.

Mine was on the computer mate.

Centre Parcs was really nice, we stayed in a executive lodge that was very comfortable, the food at all the on site restraunts was fantastic, plenty to do, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. Hightly reccomended to anyone.

Only downside is the VXR is now filthy lol, oh well, it will keep me busy tomorrow.

Any of you 3.2 GSI guys ever had their cars in Germany? I wonder what mpg it does @ top speed and general high speed driving. Really considering a 3.2 Auto
