    Lightbulb going for hids

after reading a few threads i have decided to buy some hids from hids4us.

but not sure what coulor / temperture to go for.
they all look nice and tempted to go 10000k but been warned that might get attention.

what do the club members suggest ?

    1. 4300k
    2. 5000k
    3. 6000k
    4. 8000k
    5. 10000k

4300 is the OEM colour, and is pure white.

TBH I wouldn't go for anything else as the point of installing HIDs is to improve night vision, and having a colour light will impair this.

I voted 5k as they will have a slight blue tint with out attracting attention or looking chavvy.

Totally agree, I got the 6000k and they were just too blue for me, they were bright but too blue. I bought 4300k from HIDs Direct and at first I wasn't sure about them but then that night I went out and what a difference. They're pure white and good and bright. When you stand right next to them they look like the original lights but just brighter, walk 20-30ft infront of the car and they are pure white.

Excellent for country roads and motorways

Any HiD temp is a massive improvement over OEM, so its purely what you like the look of, personally I like 8K.

I think most people go for the 6000k bulbs because most,if not all,the literature that they use to sell the product stated that 6000k is the closest to normal light. However,it's only when you read other posts about 4500k and 5000k sets you begin to question your own choice.
I for one, have 6000k in,but bought an extra set of 5000k that I intend to try in the near future. FELIXX.

Yes mate, ballasts are the same, its the bulb that is the colour.

But seriously, dont bother with 8k as they're too blue, almost purple.

At that colour they won't illuminate some things that are the wrong colour - don't know which - but it's science. It's like the toilets in nightclubs that have blue lights, so people can't see their viens to inject drugs.

4300k are pure white and will illuminate everything.

As DasArab summed it up, that's how it is.

4300k 50w Hids Direct. I am very glad that I made this decision. Now I love to drive in the dark, even on very bad weather.
