    I came from a remapped Vectra 2.0T to a remapped CDTI 150 and on the move there is little to choose between them The power deficit on the CDTI is more than made up for with the tremendous wave of torque.

    It really is fun being able to live with so-called faster/quicker/better cars.

    me & my mate had a play on a quiet private road
    him in a clio 172
    me in my vec 1.9 cdti 150 (tuning box & panel filter) 180bhp ish
    He couldnt pull away kinda scary on the bends though as the vec is like a bus on the corners
    In a straight line though it would have been goodbye clio

    Yes that is the same point about my old Type R - revvy NA engines are great from the offset but lack real mid range grunt so the trq advantage of the Derv will more than likely make up for it over a longer stretch.

So in my experience the 1.9 150 is quicker than a 2.2 Direct.
    But against my old 3.0 CDTi .......... thats another story

    I had a sprint race with a CLS 320 221 BHP with my Vectra C Elite 1.9 on the M1 the other day went into to triple figures and was slowly still pulling away .

    I tried to argue this having owned both a 2.2i direct and the 150 CDTI.. but the 2.2i-ers are adamant they are the faster!!

    Yes, virtually identical power output but the 1.9 has a load more torque.... so its bound to have more pull. Stands to reason who will have the edge.
