    Default Box & DPF

Allright, I've been reading a lot of post about fitting a box...
But it seems that when I have DPF on my Vec, I shouldn't install a box (because it will kill the DPF) but go for the OBD-remap, or??????

A lot of the time it depends on driving habits and how far up you have the box turned. But boxes are well known for blocking up filters even when the car is used hard and the box is adjusted correctly.

The DPF can only cope with so much soot input before it cries enough.

Better to get a remap and make sure, even then, that you don't do too much low speed, high gear fuel saving type driving because this keeps the exhaust gas temperatures too low and the soot output relatively high.

There is the option of removing the DPF, but in many cases this seems to cause more problems than it solves.

What problems are caused by dpf removal? It makes the car better and more reliable is this a problem people don't want a more reliable car?

    Environmental.

But seriously (not that environmental issues are not serious) there have been loads of issues with the mapping software for DPF removal, particularly if your car has already been remapped. Which probably explains why it hasn't really caught on yet.

I don't think that car manufacturers put these things on their cars in order to make them deliberately unreliable. There must be another reason?

Alright, so if I mostly commute to work, I shouldn't go with either?

It's up to you bud, but if you don't need the extra power........

You could get the whole lot mapped out (see other thread), but you would need to get someone to remove the filter either just before or just after the remap is done.

If you want more power and more mpg Mas performance do a stage 1 remap with dpf removal and egr removal software for 250 at your door I'm getting it done on wed but I have already removed my dpf myself so that was free and you will never have to worry about your dpf again

Could you not get your car on a rolling road Winnie? Would be nice to see before and after graphs as i'm sure people would like to know what improvements the map will make.

The problem is that i live in Sweden... But we have a company called BSR. They do OBD remap and take over the engine warranty, but the charge £1000....
