Default Vauxhall main dealer destroyed a car...

Long story short, customer bought a diesel Vec C and had me programme an additional key in as there was only one (at which point there was no fault codes in any module). Six weeks later he phoned to say the car was dead, I attended and advised fuel pump module failure.

I went on holiday so he fitted a new pump and trailered the car to VX main dealer for programming.

The senior tech had it for four weeks, he was then told to collect the car. He was charged £400 odd and told the car would never run again and to scrap it.

I attended the following day to find this-

It really amazes me that a main Vauxhall dealer screws up a car and erases the security code when all they had to do was programme in a new pump??????????

Then charges the customer for their **** up... it's just not on.

I've yet again advised this customer to put in a serious compliant to VX head office and contact Watchdog or similar, after I get the car running and submit a full report.

About three out of every ten diagnostics I run i hear horror story's about main VX dealerships overcharging or being cowboys.

My local dealer claimed the accelerator pedal on my car was faulty but in their report they state 'needs to be replaced and reassessed'

The dealer quoted me £353 for diagnostic and replacement - I said no thank you - and got it replaced for £180 - turns out the fault lay in the throttle body.

Personally I think Vauxhall are useless - I don't waste time complaining anymore.

It really is madness what the main VX dealers get up to. I attended an 08 plate Astra last week just back form the dealer with a steering rack fault, it was a warranty claim but he went early to collect the car.

He was told they were still waiting on the part coming in from DINGBRO!!

If that had been a paying customer the new EHPS unit would have been genuine VX at three or four times the cost of a Dingbro part.

It just shows the warranty is not worth the paper it is written on when they use third party parts.

What gets me is that vauxhall made a big song and dance over the announcement that they would require there dealerships to improve there standard of service but in truth these promises are not really worth the paper there written on
Thats why mine has not seen the inside of a vx workshop for three years.

Trifle worrying that lot.. Looks like they've reset the CIM, then attempted to reprogram it and as it was flashing the codes around the car it crashed and left them blank.... Also looks like they've had a low battery too...

A lot of them Network faults could have been caused by a spike in their tech2 unit which mine does sometimes and crashes the network..

I reckon a good reprogram of affected units would clear most of that. Only thing I can see which isnt accounted for is the front end headlight 'still' being open circuit?

Good luck with this one, let us know how you get on pls.

Looking at the Vin Number I'm judging its a 53/04 ish plate 2.0dti?

Shoulda just of needed a ECU clear unpair from the pump and a recode
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

My thoughts exactly. Spot on with the car too .

It will be a slow process as the customer is in no rush. I advised it's far too good to simply write off on VX's say-so as it's only done 34k miles.

The car wont accept any security code as it stands. My plan is to virginize the ECM, CIM and pump. At which point (going by previous experience) it should accept any code I put in and programme it to the CIM and ECM, as it should think these have been replaced with new units (IE no security code).

If not, then it's virginize all modules and start programming as if a new car has rolled off the production line....

You're a brave man trying to fix this. You should try to work on my Signum. I can't get rid of the "RADIO SAFE" beep when I press TUNER, NAV, any audio settings, and others...12/2003, 2004 model year 3.0CDTi
