Default Boing Boing noise from suspension

Just took the 53 vectra 2.2 SRI petrol to the garage to have the rear brake pipes replaced. MOT man said the suspension was making a boing...boing noise when lowered back onto the ground. He said it could be a number of things. Has anyone experienced the same. I don't want to chuck money at replacing random bits.

    many thanks.
    Greg.

Surely he could have looked into this and traced it?
If he did and found nothing at fault I would leave it until the handling goes all pear shaped or the noise can be heard during normal driving

Yes, I know the sound, I'm sure, as someone stated earlier, it will be the top mount bearing.

Mine was most noticable when the car was stationary and I moved the steering wheel from side to side.

Its not an expensive job, if I remember right, I paid around £60 inc the labour. I may be wrong here but I think the bearing is only available from the dealers, as I shopped around a few motor factors and none of them had the individual part listed.

I'm sure if it was a broken spring, any decent mechanic would be able to diagnose it!

Thanks for your help. I will investigate the top bearing with a view to getting it done. Mot man thought it could be a drop link, but the few i,ve had never made a boing noise. Thanks again,

    Greg.
