2 questions (for now, new dti owner)

Fuel additive....heard on these pages that some owners add a bit of 2 stroke oil to the tank. Looking at diesel bobs site http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/goeswrong.asp

i was wondering if adding a bit of 2 stroke oil would help combat this VP44 advance piston seizure that is pictured?

Seems that the tuning tips section regarding engine oil doesnt rate fully synth oil. http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/tips.shtml

Just changed mine the other week using fully synth 5w 30 & trying to decide wether to drop it & use something like the site recommends. Any comments on these welcomed.

if it was me changein the oil i would use 10w/40 mate

Mine's full of Mobil 1 10/40. But it's done 140,000 miles. Adding some 2 stroke to the tank is something I'd thought of too. But I'm not sure how much to add?

Yeah just had a read too. I think it's something i'll start doing. Only a few quid for some 2 stroke oil. 1 part oil to 200 parts diesel was recommended so based on the Vec having about a 60 litre tank, that would be 300mls of oil per full tank?

2 stroke, auto matic transmition fluid, parafin, petrol, cooking oil all do the same job ... but its a lot easier to just buy a tank full of V power diesel / a bottle of forte diesel cleaner.

Whatever you do I plead that you do not use parafin or petrol regularly in any diesel engined car. That will strip any lubrication that is in the diesel and cause more problems that it will prevent.

Two stroke or a descent additive such as Redex or Millers is more than adequate
