It wants a service by the sounds of it.
Thought it was new!
It probably means it's due a 1000mile (or maybe 1000km) inspection.
It means that it wants a service within the next 1000 miles. If you bought the car just recently and the dealer serviced it before you took it, they might just have forgetten to reset the service indicator.
Neil has it. Service due within 1000 miles.
Thanks for the info guys...
Hmmm that is a little strange...
the car has done 11,400 miles and the first service isn't due until 20,000 the book says (or 1 year which is in November)
If it's on the ecoflex service system, the car will monitor certain factors such as oil condition etc. Based on the results it'll calculate when it needs a service. I'd speak to the dealer and find out if it's been serviced yet, despite the 20k quoted in the literature you'll find most people will still agree that the first service should be done after 10k with shorter oil change intervals than the book recommends.Originally Posted by Rikkiola
Regular, shorter service intervals will only harm one thing, your pocket lol. But this is probably the best thing you can do for your motor though, it'll keep it running trouble free for donkeys years and 100k's of miles.
normally when you buy a nearly new car they do a service on it prior to selling it on.
that's what happened with mine.
sorry to hijack, but in order to maintain the vx warranty, does the car need to be serviced every 20k or every year??! I bought the car last september but it says that there is still 8k miles left til the next service is due. should i still get it serviced?
It certainly wont hurt Harry. You could always just do an interim oil and filter change to keep it going nicely until the 8k is up. At retail prices oil, filter and drain plug O ring shouldn't come to more than £30 well worth it if you ask me and if you speak to a certain gentleman tonight he might even be able to sort you out trade club prices.
did an interim oil and filter change a few months ago Neil - at a cost of almost £100!!!! 30 quid alone was for the oil filter itself!!!!
that's why i'm not keen on sending it into the garage when all they will do is drain all that lovely new oil it's got in it.
i just wanted to make sure that if i don't book it in until the 8k miles are up that the VX warranty won't invalid. i didn't know if it was 20 k or one year, whichever comes earliest kinda deal.
