    Default What's your temp at?

What's your temp gauge sitting at this weather?

    BTW mine's a Signum 1.9CDTi 150

Just done a journey of 25 miles, motorway and A roads and the temp gauge didn't manage to quite reach 80, and took around 10 miles to do so.
Same on the return journey, but then it was idling for around 5 mins after stopping, temp then went just above 80.

Is this normal given the the drop in outside temp, or have I a problem?

I'd say normal mate especially if you drive with the heater on as well as that will keep the car cooler.

Mine gets to about 85 and sits there but it's a 2.2 DTi. It takes quite a while to heat up though. They appear to be rather cool running engines.

I would say you have a problem! Stat.

Mine (first post) just seems slow to get upto temp, but then I've never driven in winter, bought the car this summer.

You'll generally find a lot of the cdti's run cool!, some change the thermostat with good results + better mpg, but some see no change for some reason!, As i get good mpg already (currently at 50+ mpg) I see no need for change as the engine runs at normal temp but doesn't register as so, This is common for a lot of the cdti's & nothing to worry about.

I've noticed quite a difference in mine between Summer and Winter. In the cooler temps, mine [120] is like yours and barely reaches 80. In the summer It'll sit at around 85-87 once up to temp.

i had the same problem with the temp gauge not moving in the cold weather and thought it was just the gauge but alas i changed the thermostat and now the gauge sits on 85 and the heating and fuel consumption have improved quite dramaticaly
thermostat was about £40 quid plus fresh antifreeze and changed in about a hour bit fiddly but otherwise ok

how long should it take for a dti heater to warm up? i undertsand it depends on your driving

is there a how2 for thermostat?
