Light keeps coming on

I Keep getting the warning light coming up the dash the one that looks likes a spanner in the middle of a car it comes on for about a secornd then go off it dont happen every day but it happens

Any help ????

Its telling you a fault has been logged.

it says in my hand book page 202,, (04 1.8,,) "If this light's up briefly then goes out again this is of no significance", so nothing to worry about, both my vec,s have done this, I only have to change the brand of juice and mine comes on,, then goes off, until it sorts its self out,

Like lee said... it's showing that there is one or more fault codes stored in memory... it's a 'feature' of the vec... and providing it goes out almost immediately then it's nothing to worry about... next time yer car is in the stealers ask them to clear the fault log... this will stop the light coming on momentarily each time you start the car..

Try different garages till it seems happy! & maybe keep away from 'cheap' supermarket fuel.

I run my 2.2 Vectra on supermarket petrol at least 90% of the time. Never had the car / spanner light flash up briefly.

I agree with Big Dave on this one, for aprox 5000 miles I only used morrisons petrol NO LIGHT on, then they changed half the pumps to CARD ONLY, so big queues for the cash pumps, so filled up with BP, LIGHT ON And off, but it settles down after a short while, esso petrol LIGHT ON, but it settles down after a while, have now done nearly a full tank back on morrisons juice,,,, NO LIGHT. Garages make a lot of dosh out of this light when quite often there is nothing wrong.

Supermarkets dont own refinery's.

They just buy bulk from the petrol company's so can sell it cheaper.
