    Default Urgent Help! Alternator Change...

    Halp!

Have just replaced my alternator on my 1.9 CDTI 120. That bit's all done but......

The Tensioner has travelled all the way down and now I can't get it back up.

Is there a release mechanism, ratchet system or other trick to raise it again?

When it was seated on top of the alternator belt, it moved relatively easily but now it's at full travel, I just can't get it to budge.

    Help appreciated.

I just put a spanner on the tensioner pulley and pushed it upwards, I think it was a 15mm. Thats on 1.9 cdti 150, i presume they would be the same. Hope this helps.
