    Default Remote Did Not Work

Yesterday, for some reason, my remote key locking did not work and I was unable to lock the car by using the key in the lock. I moved the car to another location and the remote worked just fine. I have had this problem once before and wondered if this was a known problem ?

Can I lock/unlock the door by using just the key in the lock ?

you can still manually lock and unlock your car with the key - the remote is just that a means to unlock the car "remotely"

where were you parked? if you were in a busy area and someone was repeatedly pressing a remote key nearby (mabye trying to find their car, or for other unscrupulous reasons) then the car may have entered antu scanning mode and the remote feature would have been locked out for about 2 minutes to prevent code theft

Bit of a faff to do that on my 06 Vectra. You have to reach in through the front passenger door and press the lock button on the drivers door panel to lock all the doors. It won't do it via the key in the lock on facelift Vectras.

The only door that will lock or onluck with the key in the lock is the drivers door.

@Big Dave I beg to differ: my setting is to lock/unlock all the doors with one single press. Last month when the battery fob failed, I locked all the doors with the key, not just the driver's one.

CJ, they must have changed the lock mechanism again then. It also states in my handbook that the key will only lock/unlock the drivers door.

To quote from a 2007 handbook:

    Fault when locking or unlocking

    Radio remote control fault

    To unlock
Insert key into lock in driver’s door and turn forwards as far as it will go. Turn key back to vertical position and remove from lock.
Unlock driver’s door with central locking switch, see page 67.
The mechanical anti-theft locking system and the Vauxhall alarm system are deactivated when the key is inserted in the ignition switch.

    To lock
Open front passenger door, close driver’s door, lock vehicle using central locking switch, see page 67, close front passenger door.

    Malfunction in central locking system

    To unlock
Insert key into driver’s door lock and turn forwards as far as it will go. Turn key back
to a vertical position and remove. The other doors can be unlocked by pulling the
interior lock button (unless the mechanical anti-theft locking system has been enabled). The luggage compartment and the fuel filler cap remain locked.

    To lock
Lock front passenger door and rear doors by pushing the interior lock button. Lock
driver’s door with key in lock. Turn key towards rear of vehicle as far as it will go,
turn key to a vertical position and remove. The unlocked fuel filler cap and the luggage compartment cannot be locked.
