Default cruise packed up? head unit on and off?

Vectra 2007 SRi Estate 2.0 Turbo

The cruise control has stopped working.. the head unit decides when it wants to work?!

    1. Cruise - cant get it to operate at all
    2. Head unit - Driving along all ok.. then it powers off for between 5 and 15 minutes.. comes back on and might not do it again for a few days

Im really hoping it isnt the CIM.. maybe you guys could shed some light for me?

Car is just outside the 3 years but under the 60,000.. talking to dealer at the minute to see if anything can be done.. otherwise i may be in the brown stuff

My cruise control kept switching itself off (it would always go on) and after the dealer tried changing the clutch switch, which didn't cure the problem, it was diagnosed as a faulty CIM, which was then replaced and the problem disappeared. Luckily I had Network Q pay for it.

The VX mechanic told me it was a 'circuit malfunction' with a code which indicates either a clutch switch or a CIM problem, and he added 'It's never the clutch switch'. A 'soft' code (no EML) was stored for Cruise failure.

Also my problem with the Cruise was intermittent.

My car's mileage was just 45,000.

It sounds like it could be the sim m8 - if the faults started to occur at the sametime.

If you have a full service history with Vaxuhall they may doffer to cover the costs or pay for part of the cost.

    Hey all,

I seem to be having the same issue as john k sri... I'll be cruising along the motorway with the cruise control set, and without any obvious reason it will cut out. The car is a 2007 Vectra 1.8 SRi with 47000 on the clock, it's just out of warranty. Anyone have any idea what its likely to cost, before I go booking it in?

    Cheers,

    Paul.

Mine's doing the same thing...It's so ****** annoying, especially when driving up an incline on the motorway

You need to get the stored code(s) checked mate. In my case it was the CIM. A 'soft'code will be stored every time it switches itself off. (no EML light)

Mine is an 07 (CDTI 150), about the same mileage as yours, and not long out of warranty. And the first time it happened I was pelting it down the M57.

    Spooky or what?

New CIM at the dealers costs about £300. Diagnostic checks at the dealers are usually charged for.

Luckily, mine was covered under Network Q.

Cheers John, thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure it's worth £300 to have it sorted, although it is very anoying on the motorway. I might see what Lookers will charge for diagnosis.

It dosen't sound like a problem that the old-school mechanic I've been to previously with older cars will be able to sort out
