Default Shell Fuelsave.... wish i never had!

I was in shell last week, and for some reason rather than the normal fuel, just thought id give the fuelsave a bash! So put £30.

My god, the car ran rough the last week! My average for the week was down to 35mpg, (normally 43ish) very sluggish, hardly any power low down, even at 2000rpm when the remap takes effect. No EML lights or anything.

Last night i gave it a full tank of esso, within 5-10miles it slowly changed over back to normal an is grunty as anything again.. fast and smooth.

So done a search online, as you do! found pages of people having same issue as me!! Im just wondering if it was the fuelsave, or a bad batch of it?

Im probably wrong, but its left me thinking fuelsave is just a lower RON, less bhp and that how you get better mpg... mind you, i didnt!

Shallnt be touching it again though!

    Mike

I use Shell Fuelsave but TBH haven't noticed any more miles to the tank. Only noticed slight drop in power.

Would much prefer it to go back to VPower Diesel but all local Shell garages ONLY sell Fuelsave Diesel now.

Haven't tried that save one, but funny you should mention Esso diesel. I've tried most types, but settled on Eddo -- for my car it's just as good if not better than v-power or ultimate.

    Weird,

I have done 6 months of V-Power and now im on Fuelsave for 6 months to see if there is any difference.

I have so far (6 weeks in) had consistently higher MPG's using fuelsave over the V-Power.

    Weird eh!

Only run v power unleaded n use to run v power derv in my modded vrs.

Trying to get the. Mrs to switch to v power derv for her Saab but she tends to just use whatever is closest when she needs. Have got her using millers now though.

Haven't filled up there for AGES but when I went past yesterday they had all the Fuelsave flags flying like my local so I ASSUMED that they also ONLY sold Fuelsave.

You know what they say about assuming now don't you.

To ASSUME is to make and ASS of U and ME! LOL

I too haven't had any issues with the fuelsave petrol, but then didn't really notice any gains. Maybe you would notice a slightly higher mpg on a long run instead of normal day to day driving. Have now put some bp ultimate in which does seem a little better but will probably go back to wherever is cheapest soon

I thought it was just me!!!! I've noticed since using the Fuelsave stuff that my MPG is suffering. I admit to doing mainly round town driving (to & from work, etc) but there is a definite drop off in both performance and MPG.
