Default nearly bought a vec c gsi today.....

hadnt planned on buying one, but was at our local auctions today, and there was a 52 plate red one there, exterior and interior looked perfect, sounded sweet as a nut, then unscrewed the oil cap, and there was slight brown sludge. not major, may even have just been condensation, but wasnt willing to chance it on a 3.2. sat here gutted now in a way, if it wasnt for that i would have had it lol

Difficult decision I guess may have not been for a decent run lately and just from condensation, then again maybe the reason it was in the auction in the first place.

did think it was condensation to be honest, but as it wasnt a car i was intending to have, best leave it alone, had my eye on a 1.8 sri facelift with satnav that went through a few cars later, but that needed tidying up, and for the money that went through for, i didnt think it would be worth it, so still carless apart from driving the girlfriends picasso lol

was planning on going sensible for an everyday car, dont think the gsi would tick that box

That sludge is perfectly normal on the 3.2 due to the filler neck being in the cold air stream. The water condensates in there on short journeys. Hence most owners just unscrew the neck and put the cap in the hole.

edit: fuel, about 26 average on mine.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
