Default Button help please: Peugeot 406 owners

    Folks,
A friend has just got the above car on a 2000 plate, but comes with a button marked "Pass / Fail" which we believe to be for the airbags. The car didn't come with an owner manual so we are unsure what it is for.

My guess is for disabling the passenger side airbags for rear facing baby seats, but not sure, especially with it labelled "Pass / Fail".

If someone (owner/previous owner) could let me know, or point me in the direction of an online manual it would be appreciated.

    Many thanks,
    Andy

Sorry, can't help, but it might be worth posting a picture if no-one else can help. Sounds bizarre to me...

I wouldn't have thought the airbag isolation switch would just be a button, aren't they normally a key switch? (to stop them from being accidently switched off?).

A picture would help. I'd suggest trying a Peugeot forum or pop in a dealer.

IIRC the switch to disable the passenger airbag on a 406 is operated by the key and is positioned by the handbrake lever.

Ask on here matey - http://new.406oc.co.uk/

Used to have 2001 edition with V6 engine - had a facility to isolate passenger airbag. It was inbetween the 2 front seats. Trying to remember how it looked.....it was set down into the plastic surround. It resembled an arrow in shape (metallic) and was surrounded by an orange plastic. unsure if it said pass or fail on it though sorry.
If you go on the Peugeot website - register on it - you can download the owners manaul for your car.
I have added a picture of the airbag isolator from a manual - hope this helps.
