Default 2.2 direct lumpy idle, EML & TC lights

Hi, Some help needed from you guys please. ive got a 2.2 sri direct 54 plate with 66000 miles. The car drives fine but its idling lumpy. The EML light is on although it doesnt seem to be affecting the way it drives, its not in limp home mode. The TC light is also on all the time, dont know if this is linked or something completely seperate. Ive changed the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, had a new fuel regulator fitted and it was fitted with the revised HP fuel pump by the previous owner.

I think its looking like a tech2 session or does anyone have any ideas?
If tech2 is needed does anyone have it on this forum in the northwest/merseyside area that would like to earn a few quid for a diagnosis?

    Thanks Kensri

Yea, getting the codes would be a good start..

Im not local so cant help but, have you tried the "no equipment" method for getting the codes?
How 2 Read Fault Codes for Free and Without any Equipment

Its a bit of a faff, but might be worth giving it a go..

yeah ive already tried that method without any joy, think i read on here that it doesnt work on the direct models.

Id rather give some cash to someone on here who has tech2 rarther than paying the stealer prices but suppose if theres no one reasonably local to me then its a trip to vx

yeah i have thought about it but unsure whether they are any good.

Do you mean something like these

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Cheap enough if they do the job

Are they easy enough to use, do you know if they will give me the codes for both the eml and the tc?

Ok solved the problem. Bought a new air flow meter, fitted it and to my surprise both lights have gone out. Traction control now working properly and its idling smooth. Didnt think the MAF would affect the TC tho.
