Not used Redex a whole lot or for that long but a friend of my dad who has been a mechanic for 20+ years gave me a bottle of Forte fuel system cleaner to throw in after a service. Its ****** good stuff, in the Corsa (1.0 petrol power!) I had at the time, there was a hill that it would climb at a steady pace in third with my foot down, after that had gone through it would do the same hill but increasing speed. I put Redex in the Vectra every now and then but never really on a full tank. When I first got it I put in enough to treat 2 full tanks when I had about three quarters of a tank of Shell V-Power in it. Did no harm at all. Mine's a 2.2 Diesel.

Another thing I did with the Corsa every now and then if I couldn't get hold of the Forte stuff (had to get it off Ebay) was buy the single shot of Redex and put it in when the needle was just hovering above the red on the fuel gauge. I always used to run it right down and wouldn't fill up till the light was flashing at me so that could be 30 miles or so after I put the Redex in. It made a difference. Granted not as much as the Forte one but still helped.

    Hope that clears it up.

Throw a bottle of one or the other in, get the engine hot and once it's up to temperature, a thrash down a back road at high revs to blow all the crap out the exhaust system too. Works wonders.

I've only used Redex and similar on over half a tank of fuel. Why does a head gasket change need it? oil and water, yes, they get contaminated.

YES I dont understand why,, after a head gasket change,,,, but to answer the question,, I am a big fan of Redex products I have used since my two stroke days in the 60s, I ALWAYS USE AS DIRECTED as on the can/bottle, the full system cleaner does its job well, then use injector cleaner every few tank fulls, I have had several cars close on 200,000 miles never had the head off using redex products in them

Another one for millers although I'm now going to use forte myself. Spose to be the best stuff forte.

Although I've just ordered some cataclean based on what I've been told it's good to.

My local good garage scheme forte dealer asked me how much fuel I had in tank and said to do it with qtr tank not half. That was for the forte gas cleaner treatment but I'll do same for the cataclean also.

Otherwise try running 3 tanks of v power, I only use v power in my cars derv n petrol.
