Engine life

I took a test drive in a 54plate 1.9cdti 150bhp SRI Vectra today, blew me away, really enjoyed it. Im looking at finally shifting my shed of a Clio and putting my money down for it, however I wanted some peoples views first!

The engine's done circa 94k - is this a lot for this engine, should I be concerned about it going in the next few thousand? The cam-belt was done about 8 weeks ago so that won't be an issue.

Also, a question im sure has been asked a million times, but what kind of MPG can you get, parkers etc seem to think on average about 45-47mpg?

Is there anything else to watch out for with it like common issues?

In regards to the miles it has done, are they around town or motorway, and has it been serviced on a regular basis. There is plenty more life in a well looked after diesel than a petrol, and at 94k for a diesel I would consider it. A petrol on the other hand would give me some more concern.

Also all those faults you hear about the faults on the 1.9 should/would of been ironed out by now.

Unfortunately I think most of the miles were town miles, but the gearbox and clutch seemed quite strong when I drove it. Pretty good regular servicing I believe.

Quite a lot of money for me to outlay so I need to make sure I make the right decision on this...

There's a thread somewhere showing how high mileage some of the members cars are quite a few are around 150k if I recall.
