Default Wheel nut problem, Part 2.

    Right, the story continues.
Went to collect the new locking wheel nut key from Vauxhalll today as the original one snapped and they have supplied the wrong flaming one.
I supplied the key number i had when i bought the car but it's not even close.
We've had the AA out to use their tool to remove them but they can only get 2 of the 4 off due to Kwik Fit over tightening the fronts.

If any of you can please post up some photos of your lockers maybe i can try and establish what number key i need to get.

As said in my previous post my key is supposed to be number 116, i'm really in trouble and would be very greatful if any fellow forum members could help me out.

Been told by the AA the ONLY way to remove them is with a replacement key so at the mo i'm screwed.

This sort of problem was discussed a couple of months back. There are other ways, but they are fairly drastic. After reading about the snapping key problem I very gently took my locking nuts off and just put ordinary ones on. I really do not think all that many thiefs want used standard fit alloys to be honest.

You're welcome to come over and try my key Dave, although it's a very slim chance of it being the right one.

I'm not going to publicise my key number for obvious reasons and have no idea how many combinations there are but if you want to try it you know where we are. I'll be at home all evening tonight if you wanted to try it.

If you had decent tyres, they'd be a target for thieves; but as you use cheapos, you're ok.

The way to stop this happening in the future, by the way, is to buy a new set of locking wheel nuts and never ever let a garage or tyre fitter remove them - take them off yourself before you head off to the garage.

Wow that was a nasty little comment! I have Goodyear Eagles on the car. Don't really think they are cheapos, do you?

You seem to want to have it every which way William (ooo err). Here's a recent quote from you:

"I have never noticed any difference in driving characteristics when I have changed manufacturer fitted branded tyres for cheaper ones, except the cheaper ones tend to wear better and last longer. If you are driving in a way that tyre brnad makes an important difference you are almost certainly going to fast for the road and conditions. If everyone swapped to buying cheaper tyres, the premium brnads would soon lower their prices. Same with fuel. If everyone made the effort to go to the cheapest filling station in a give area the others would soon drop their prices."

I didn't fit the expensive tyres, the car had them fitted when I bought it, and they do not need changing just yet. I will be looking for a decent budget alternative when they do need changed. But let's not hi-jack the thread.
