I would say that could be your upper control arms need replacing. Yes its a very fiddly job. Got VX to do mine last year. Think i paid about £180 with parts.

Did make a big difference to the road holding thou.

Do a search on here for upper control arms, loads of info.

    Wifes Siggy passed MOT yesterday
2 advisories ball joint on rack slight play o/s and ball joint rack n/s slight play is this a major or costly repair

This has been the first advisory it has had in the 5 MOT,s it has had and it has never failed which for 107k mileage is b****y good compared with other manufacturers.

Not sure how much this would cost, but with an 8 year old car with over 100K miles you have done well, but sadly any real repair cost effectively writes the car off, as it will be worth so little.

Had this car since it was six month.s old and done 100k with none of the many problems highlighted on this forum, it is an Elite and was used by me for its first 5 yrs then gave to wife when i purchased Vectra Elite Estate. This car has served our family very well and still looks like new.

Why would I or many others on here scrap a car when it is still running very well for the 6k it does every year

More to the point why scrap a car when its value to the family is in reliability not value at point of sale, good condition and service history ones still fetch good money not peanuts besides not everyone can go out and purchase a newish car at the present time. I was asking if anyone was aware of the nature of these faults and the cost??? not to receive a reply stating to scrap it.

I didn't say to scrap it. It just comes to a point when it does not make economic sense to spend money on a car, when it could be cheaper to go and buy a similar car without the problem. Say it would cost £600 to fix the car, but you could pick the same model not needing repaired up at auction for £500, why would you spend the money?? So please rain your temper in and actually read what is posted instead of trying to read all sorts of extra into it.

Often the point of the devil you know than the devil you don't. I see Williams point and financially sound,.. but it's what the car is worth to you.

I've got out of that and now in the three year trap, mine go at MOT time and a new one with manufacturer's warranty.... even though two dealers cannot locate the noise coming from my steering >=o(

Thanks chewy, I was not trying to insult his car in any shape. I faced the same problem back in summer - spend big money to repair my car or change it. I chose to change the car while the problem was not 100% noticeable. I had to visit a lot of dealers until I found one that had a car I was interested in, but who did not check my old car for the DMF problem!

Some people on here are so touchy, and read about 4 times more into your posts than is actually there. I am not a woman, I just say what I mean straight forwardly. If I had been implyinghis car was crap, I would have said that.
