    Default Dealers are useless!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from the stealer's and I'm well pi**ed off. My car has had a steering wobble @70+mph, so I informed the garage and they said basically "tough" because they can't test over the legal speed limit, fair enough! But they wouldn't even have a look. Anyway long story short, brought some new wheels, thought maybe it would help, no luck. Car had to go back for an electrical recall so I asked if someone would have a look. Received a phone call to collect the car and they said they can't have a look at the steering wobble ( even though the technician knows the drive shaft is bent, told me off the record ) because by fitting after market wheels I've invalidated the cars warranty. I felt like parking it in their show room.

Flipping joke. Did you not tell them that the judder was there and you tried the new wheels because of their negligence in refusing to check out a safety issue? Go straight to VX with this one, make a complaint on the grounds of health and safety, that will make them sit up and take note.

Yeah, gonna e-mail em or phone em! It's a 6 month old 30k car for gods sake!!!! Argggggh! I forgot the clutch is knackered too, but they can't do it under warranty because of the wheels!!!!!!!! Seriously don't think I will buy another ****** Vauxhall, you wait a ridiculous amount of time for them and then when something goes wrong you get fobbed off!!

You can usually arrange for the Service Manager to sit in your car whilst you drive it, in order to demonstrate the fault

but the service manager also has the right to refuse to be driven in a car at speeds over the legal limit , i have been asked loads of time to road test with a customer for faults like this and i have also refused and there is nothing they can do to make me

Fully understand your Human Rights but Service Managers also have a duty to find the faults on car brought to you with a dangerous steering problems. If it only occurs fractionally above the speed limit then why isn't the vehicle taken to a proving track that manufactures have access to???? That way no laws are broken. If a manufacturer says it has a top speed of say 130mph then the owner can rightly say that they want the car to be safe upto that speed.
I presume that the Germans do not have this problem with their Service Managers as there is no speed limit on Autobahns !!!!

At the end of the day a simple investigation has found that the drive shaft is bent, no one needed to drive at any speed to show this. They have failed in their duty of care to look for the fault prior to the new wheels being fitted. A road test was not required in the first place.
