lack of turbo
i drove to work this morning every thing was fine then all of a sudden the car went sluggish pulled up and stopped ,then put my foot down car took of with little power.It was just like driving my misses corsa no lights came on the dash i then got to work turned it off and on again drove down the road every thing was back to normal,has any one else had this happen ? went out at lunch time and drove home tonight and its fine
as its the first time its doen it it wont have shown a fault on the dash - but it will have stored the fault code - when (and if) it does it again it will bring the engine light on.
what were you doing as the fault occurred i.e. high gear at low revs and accelerating??
how many miles are you on now Mick ? you might need to invest in the turbo solenoid bypass valves if its goinf to continue ....

im sure i was in third at about 3000 revs accelerating but not hard ,its just past 57000 miles
hmmm, would be worth doing the pedal test and seeing what codes are stored unless you DO have a code reader ....sounds like the Turbo is loosing boost just need to determine where and the likely cause is either a small hole/loose pipe or the valves as above
do you know how to do the pedal test to see if it has stored anything?
Get in
Press and hold both brake and accelerator pedals to the limit of their respective travels
Turn ignition key to Position 2, ie dash lights on
Release accelerator pedal
Re-depress accelerator pedal to the floor
Turn off ignition
Turn on ignition to position 2
The engine symbol on the dash will then begin to blink
There will be a sequence of flashes, separated by small pauses between numbers and a longer pause between separate fault codes.
The number of flashes needs to be counted and thus the 4 digit fault code can be determined.
EG, if the flash count goes as such
10 flashes
small pause
1 flash
small pause
1 flash
small pause
10 flashes
Longer pause
10 flashes
small pause
1 flash
small pause
10 flashes
small pause
10 flashes
Then there are 2 fault codes recorded and they are
0110 (ie 10,1,1,10 flash sequence)
and
0100 (ie 10,1,10,10 flash sequence)

no i dont know how to do the test it seems fine now but tommorrows another day
look up one - i've posted the test method
- if its happened once ...its going to happen again -
stopping and restarting will clear the fault - just a pain having to find somewhere to pull over every five minutes or...even worse the limp mode kicks in whilst your halfway through an overtake

just given it a go got the engine light to come on but it wouldnt flash just stayed on ,turn it on and off again and the light dissappears
not everyone seems to be abel to get the fault code test to work ...
might be worth trying again as at present the fault only seems to be a "soft one" as the light is not illuminated ....but well worth trying again when and IF the fault reoccurs
