Default Car going in to Stealers on Thursday

The knocking from the back end is getting on my nerves. I know its not the shocks/springs/wheel bearing so assuming its the ARB bushes/ and or the uca. Will let you guys know what they say...

Unless your car is under a Vx-related warranty, you'd be financially better off getting an independent garage to change the bushes or the control arms - they're pretty bread and butter stuff and so don't need Vx technicians to do them.

Well, took her in today and am nearly £100 quid lighter now.
My wife took the car in for a test drive on Monday , and the foreman said there was a knock from both the front and the back, I said , nope just the one, but they said drop her in and well check.
I asked how much for the ARB bushes, they said around 60 quid. I thought that was reasonable, but it turns out that was for each side! as they replace the linkage as well ( front ARB ).
THE RECEPTOIONIST SAID THAT THEY CHANGED THE ARB ON THE FRONT , BUT COULDNT FIND ANYTHING ON THE BACK SO SUGGESTED EITHER THE PARCEL SHELF OR THE TAILGATE LATCH........STRANGE METHINKS AS THERE WAS ONLY ONE KNOCKING NOT TWO...............
BUT THE FOREMAN DID LEAVE HER ANOTE TO SAY THAT MAYBE THE SHOCKS WERE GOING AND DID i WANT TO BOOK IT BACK IN TOTAL COST OVER £300 !!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Nothing wrong with them.....

I had a horrendous knocking from the rear, had it since about Easter
    Local garage couldn't trace it
VX couldn't trace it, whilst the car was in for other work
Car went through it's MoT, still nothing

The nearside rear shock absorber completely failed, leaking all over the place
Since it was replaced the knocking has stopped; no such noise from the rear any more

I suspect the sports suspension springs make it difficult to diagnose a failed shock absorber, unless disconnected and removed for inspection

I checked springs, shocks and bearings etc when the knocking first started, all seem fine working ok and no breakages/leaks.
My problem was the ARB bushes as I told the garage it was in the first place. As to why they said there was a second knocking , this time from the rear I have absolutely no idea.
I agree if there was a knocking it could be a failing shock, but there isnt!

    Yep , did that test.
It might be an easy job, but from what I have been told, its fidly and can take up to an hour to change the links/bushes, and with my back, and no pit, its not an option.
