    Default Wheel wobble

My son has got a wheel wobble more so when braking and at high speeds ...its not the wheels that need balanced as we have just had new tyres fitted thought it might be the disc's but they are OK too tracking has also been checked ..track rod ends seem OK anyone any idea ?

Could it possibly be anything to do with the speed rating of the tyres?

My father-in-law has cheap tyres with lower speed rating on his vectra and he gets quite a bit of wobble even at 70. I can do 70 with my Bridgestone Turanza's (Higher speed rating) and I get nothing and we both have the same engine size except his car is 18 months newer than mine (Mine is 54 reg pre-facelift and his is 06 reg facelift).

I would re check the tyres might have a lump or one of the weights might have fallen off but does sound like the discs are shot if it happens when braking

prob the discs bud, have you changed the wheels around front to rear to see if its poss a slight buckle ,to be honest it could be a few things has he went over a large pot hole could it be he has maybe did damage to 1 of the drive shafts ?or maybe the bearings in 1 of the hub carriers.

Yeah deffo sounds like the brakes mate, as said they may look ok but they could still be warped. If you brake harder does it vibrate harder?

i agree its probably the discs or pads if they were fitted to another car first they may not be seated fully on the new car or they have had a small anomoly thats been amplified now they have been transferred to the new car

The vibration defiantly coming through the steering wheel Signumboy? it may be crap behind the disc on the hub face. You'd need to use a run out gauge to on the discs to help determine if the discs are warped or not, even a slight warping can cause a huge wobble at speed.
