Default What have i just done......NEED EHELP

ok, so i was just doing a bit of tidying up on my laptop, pictures etc. Some how i have managed to delete the whole 'pictures' folder. I've looked in the recylce bin and it aint there. How can i retrive it?? It has a lot of personal pics, when my daughter was just born etc etc.

    Can anyone help.

Do a system restore, that'll put everything back to the way it was.

Not if he has actually deleted it, but chances are if they are not in the receycle bin, the actual files are still there. Do a search for *.jpg and that should find any digital photos. I highly recommend that you backthem up onto DVD or at least get an external HDD and keep copies there as well as on the laptop.

Try to copy them back to a folder in your 'My Documents' folder. See if they copy and if they open. If not PM me and I will send you my email address so that you can email me one that will not open, so I can see what has happened to the file. Avoid deleting or installing anything else on the laptop in the mean time. As if they are deleted, the files are usually still retrievable until the sapce on the HDD is re-used.

Nope, starting to go beyond what I know. Right click one of the files that will not open and see if it actually has substance. Sometimes the name of a deleted file gets preserved, but the actual contents are lost due to the way Windows organises file storage.

Download a simple 'un delete' program. They work well if the files were deleted very recently.
