    Talking Hunting problem returned

I fitted an ECU because the other one was faulty as some might already know & it cured my hunting fault. But after a day the hunting returned...bummer !
It only hunts intermittently on idle......it'll hunt for a couple of mins the be ok for a couple of mins & so on.The only thing that seems to calm it down for a bit is if i switch my rear demister on....
Anyone throw any light on this & maybe found a solution....it's damn annoying !
Maybe i should buy a pushbike lol.

I know Bobssignum had this problem and I think from memory it turned out to be the throttle body that was the fault, although he can probably confirm that one way or the other.

Just wondering if the idle revs are set right as turning on the rear deimster (among other things) increases the power requirement and the revs increase slightly to accomodate for it.

It makes me wonder if the idle revs should be set a little higher or if whatever controls the revs is not consistent.

As Ian says, it could be an intermittent fault with the throttle body causing the revs to drop among probable numerous other things.

Do you have any problem with the car when driving it?

    The engine is a 1.8 petrol Z18XE 2002/3
I know it's not the EGR valve because it was built without one fitted.

my 1.8 used to do this when I first had it, after a 500 mile Mway trip it was hunting bad, all I did was use injector cleaner, I use redex at most fill ups, have had no further problems in 15,000 miles.

Sounds like the throttle body need cleaning to me. Probably the ECU has nothing to do with it.
