Default Spanner light on 2.0L Dti

    Hello

I had a weird thing happen on Saturday, I was towing the caravan down the M60 Saturday morning doing 56mph with Cruise control on about 10 miles into journey, when the spanner light came on cut out CC and felt the engine power down, so pulled onto to hard shoulder only to find everything was fine. Its the first time it has happened, I just put it down to using CC while towing, but it did not happens on the way back!!

Has this happened to anyone else, or is it one of them little niggles like I had in my Fix It Again Tomorrow.

    Regards

    Dave

My car used to go into Limp-Home-Mode when I strained the engine e.g. 5th gear low revs up a hill on the motorway. It turned out the vacuum pipes had splits in them so I would check them first. They can be replaced for about £6 off ebay (you'll need about 3 meters). I use the below pic to show DTi owners 'The Usual Suspects' when it comes to the spanner light.

PS - Please note that your vacuum pipes may be on the left rather than the right like mine. Vauxhall moved them as the hot gearbox below was causing the vacuum solenoids to fail.

Excellent, will have a look at mine tonight and see if they need replacing. If they do I best get the old tape measure out to get the dimensions of the pipes I need to order.

3 metres of 2mm internal diameter. Can be found readily on eBay for about 6 quid!

Maybe it's because you were towing a caravan and it couldn't face the embarassment any longer?!

They are 2mm Silicone vacuum hose and you'll need about 3 meters. Here is a link to it on ebay:

and here is a thread I started awhile back about it. You may find further information there.

I don't think this is Boost sensor, egr, vacuum or boost pipe related. Try checking all of these but I think your turbo actuator rod is needing turned slightly. I had this same problem on my 2003 2.2DTI

Problem is that at around 60 mph in 5th gear the turbo is sitting just about starting to boost

If you try towing at 60mph in 4th you'll notice you get no spanner light

No you havent wasted your money mate. Your engine is the 2 litre DTI (Y20 DTH) right?

If so, then the pipe you bought will still do the job....its just that the pipe layout is different. Will post a pic up when i get a spare 5 mins.

I just ordered some of this pipe today for my 2 litre DTI 04 reg.
