    Default USB Ipod issues

    Hi,

Can anyone help. I have an Itouch 3rd generation, which when plugged into the USB sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. However, it now always says that there is nothing in the USB slot.

My partners iPod (Nano 4th Generation) works fine first time everytime, but unfortunately hasn't enough space for me (memory).

I bought an iPod Nano 6th Generation (the new one) since I was under the impression, from reading various boards, that it was a power issue and the Itouch/Iphone used too much of it. However, with the new Nano I get an error message saying 'device not supported' - great!

Cany anyone offer any assistance? Thanks.

Quite possibly needing a software update at the dealers, if its due a service anytime soon ask them to check for software updates.

Does you iPod touch work properly with other connections, ie lead to your PC, a domestic docking station etc? Have you recently upgraded its software to version 4? I have a 3rd gen touch and just after the iPhone 4 was released iTunes told me my iPod needed an upgrade. This updated it to the same interface as the iPhone 4. There has been a couple of minor bug fixes since. I don't like the new version. Only get about half the life from a battery charge. It is possible that on a 14 month old car the stereo just will not play ball with the newest Apple iPod software, hence why it will not work with the new Nano, which I think is a cut down touch and is probably using a version of the software that is the current issue for the touch. This is not really Vxs problem. Apple are pigs for making changes to their stuff which renders 3rd party accessories useless. In some ways the safest way to be able to use an iPod is via an AUX In connector and a lead connected to the iPods ear phone socket. A power issue is also possible as I have a couple of USB in car chargers which will not work with my Touch (but do with other devices that will charge from USB).

If they find that it is related to your iPod and not the dock then yes, it will be charged.
