    Default 2.0 T Sport CAT

Hi folks following on from my map session when they ran the initial diagnostic they said my emissions were slightly high and it was prob due to my CAT being bunged up a bit. I do mostly short journeys so can see how that might be.

Guy said for me top open her up when I can to clean it out and then give her a good revving etc prior to map.

Just wondering if when I get my exhaust done should I get sport cat etc? Or are these cars pre catted in which case I'll get rid of it.

If so where can I get one or would MIJ sort it?

If so any idea where I can pick one up? Would MIJ sort it?

    Any help appreciated.

Your cast is just below your turbo so you cannot just weld one in. You will need a new downpipe that comprises the cat.

Best to get a new 3 inch downpipe with either a 100 or 200cpi sportcat. But these cost £500 to make and fit. Anything else is a waste of time and money.

Search on z20net downpipe and you will find what has been posted on this already.

if your only doing short runs then the CAT is not getting sufficiently hot which means that the carbons are not getting burnt off you could take it on a long run which MAY help burn off some of the deposits or take the cat off and manually decoke it but you run a higher risk of damaging it this way

we see some cars through work that have higher emissions due to clogged catalysts (cars mainly used for short journeys that havent got hot enough) - a good hard burn sometimes reduces the results recorded other times dependant on the level entailed the damage has already been done
