Default Has anyone read page 271 of the August 2010 Insignia owners manual?

There is a page dedicated to EDR's (event data recorders).

    https://www.vauxhallproductforum.co....icles/2943.pdf

Information stored on this can be requested by governing bodies such as the police!

    Big Brother really is here!

It had to happen sometime, with all the legallity in todays life it really was only a matter of time before black box recorders hit cars. The question i have is, will the salesman inform the potential customer about this feature? I can see it putting some people off purchasing.

Yes they do, well range rovers anyway. I remember a case where a guy was doing about 70-80mph in a 30, lost control and crashed into someone and killed them. Denied D by DD but the EDR proved he really was well in excess of the speed limit.

Edit; Sorry it wasnt D by DD, it was just dangerous Driving.

The first such use of EDR evidence in the United Kingdom was at Birmingham Crown Court during the trial of a 19 year old man who crashed the Range Rover Sport he was driving into a Jeep in 2006. The accident left a baby girl paralyzed and the driver was sentenced to 21 months in prison. The EDR evidence allowed investigators to determine the driver was speeding at 72mph in a 30mph zone.[4]>
