Default can 1.9CDTI SRI 150 Be tuned?

    Hi All,

I have a facelift 1.9CDTI SRI 150 6Spd. Are there any ways to tune this without going silly and damaging the car?

Just looking to see if any more performance can be squeezed out of it?

Plenty of options to around 200HP sensibly and 230HP with bolt on mods etc

Look at the DTUK boxes and the Caterman boxes. They can also improve the fuel economy, but do make the car quite smoky on acceleration most people find.

tuning boxes, ecu remaps and upgrading air system are the best starting blocks

thanks for all the tips. I am new to this, especially with this car. Are these boxes something i could do myself?

Where do i look to buy these tuning boxes?

Are there any problems that you know could happen if i add one of these to my car apart from a smokey exhaust on acceleration?

The tuning boxes are plug and play, and fool the ECU into using more fuel than is actually being used.

The other option is a remap which is usually dearer.

With further mods like hybrid turbo etc the CDTI 150 can see 220PS and possibly above.

Ok so there are 2 clear options which are to buy one of these boxes or get the car re-mapped?

How much would each option cost do you think?

How does fuel consumption get affected then?

By the sound of it the box would make the car drink more diesel?

MPG is dependant on how you drive, as tuning increases the power out put of the car it will increase the fuel consumption and so MPG will suffer a bit. However if you are light footed then the mpg should be fine at least.

Boxes typically come in at £150ish and remaps are around £500.

I don't have one to be fair but if you do a search (how2 section - how2 fit a caterman box).
