    Vehicle : 2.8T 280 vxr

    Trim : 280 vxr

    Engine : 2.8t

    Year : 2007

    Default Door pillars

Anyone any idea if the exterior door pillars come off or if they permanent to the door?

Bought some 3m carbon fibre to wrap them in but dont fancy the idea of cutting round it whilst on, due to maybe catching the rubber seal with the knife during cuts. Plus the fact i could do a much better job with them already off.

    Any help appreciated guys. Cheers

Quite easy to do... just let the windows down and then pull the rubber seal outwards that sits in the trim, you will see about 3 or 4 screws holding the trim securely, once they are released pull the trim backwards as it lips around the back edge of the door.

its one of those jobs that becomes self explanetary once you start messsing!

Sounds difficult, but it's dead easy.

However, to keep the tension in the vinyl to help reduce any air bubbles, i'd strongly recommend, removing the rubber seals out of the way and wrapping them on the car, then take them off to trim any excess off.

Will also help lining up the "carbon weave" on the vinyl.

I took mine off and wrapped them in black vinyl, i wish i'd done them on the car, would have been alot easier and less bubbles to remove afterwards

if you get the 3m di noc range of carbon fibre, the adhesive on the back has channels in them so you are a lot less likely to get airbubbles in it over standard vinyl

I like the irmy kit as it is not dull like the carbon fibre. Prefer a more laquered shine if you like but not sure if you get that or if the di noc stuff is all matt finish.

You want plain old black vinyl.
