Recommend me a detailing clay, please!

I have been looking around on the web and am on the point of ordering some Bilt Hamber Auto-clay. Two 200g packs, one regular, one soft, for £20.90 and it is very well reviewed. I am new to claying and want something that is not likely to damage my paintwork but that will bring it up looking clean and smooth.

I am tempted by their Auto-balm wax too...

I use BH products in my classic car restorations and they are really good and come highly recommended.

i use the Meguiars clay to good effect, if your going the the detailing meet this weekend you should ask those guys as they are the pros...

i am quite new to claying - started off with a Meguairs first which seemed good then i bought the Bilt Hamber based on reviews, the fact you can just use tap water as a lube and a 200g bar can be cut into four pieces.
i used it last week on my dads car and he was well impressed. Will be buying it again..probably go with the soft version next time as i plan on doing it a little more regularly

I was recently shown how to clay mine as I'd not done it before. I'd bought the Meguiars starter kit, good guess and told (thanks Messsy) to keep to the less aggressive clays as my paintwork was pretty good.

Hmm. The Megs clay comes with a lot of recommendations, so ought to be good. But the BH stuff is better value for money and won the Auto Express Best Buy.

I shall decide later!

BH gets very very good reviews, the megs kit is very popular though, whether thats because its more of a halfords product, i don't know....

I'd go with BH, and i will be next time

Cant go wrong with BH mate. The thing that sold it for me was that you only need water for a lube, not because im a tight git, but because it means you never have to worry about not using enough, or running out half way through doing a car. I use a 2lt water pump spray when doing mine, but you could as easily just use the hose.

I just bought some BH Clay from Ultimate finish, 200g bar for £10.95. It should have been £11.95 but I ordered and paid for the original one, then realised. I phoned them straight away and he changed it to the soft one...and didnt charge me the extra quid! Bargin

Yes a definate vote for the BH soft clay from me.
Have used the mequiars and the Elite soft clays in the past but the BH one is so much easier to use i know you can just use it with water, but just try it with dodo juice born slippy and you will never ever use anything else awesome stuff.
