    Exclamation Fault code P2279 Showing.HELP!!!.Info PLEASE.

    I have just replaced my EGR valve last weekend because the car kept going into limp mode.This happened on a couple of occasions so,seeing as the car has 93k on the clock,I thought it was worth doing.However,it happened again then went back to normal running.
    Yesterday my wife drove to Birmingham Airport from the Manchester area with no issues whatsoever.Then,today, after going into Manchester town centre it went into limp mode.First the spanner light then the EML came on and stayed on.
    When I coded it I got P2279,Air intake leak,and on driving the car around the estate,could tell it was still in limp mode.I cleared the codes and reset the EML and it drove normally!!.No problems whatsoever.
    Can anyone help in what might be the problem?.I would be eternally grateful.

    It sounds like you have a leak somewhere from where its monitered at the maf on the intake through to the manifold, check all pipes including intercooler, check your egr gaskets also, gotta be something simple.

    Vectra vxr custome remaps egr deletes dpf and diagnostic work all remaps are custome bench tuning avalible all genuine equipment PM for info

    If you can't see anything obvious under the bonnet, then I would say the intercooler maybe developing a leak.

    Thank you all so far,for your replies.I have had a cursory look inside the engine bay and checked all the pipes that I could see.There doesn't seem to be anything amiss in that direction.
    Regarding the EGR,it seems to be firmly in place,however,I had noticed that when I took it off originally,that the power connector fitting was dodgy in that the locking tab wasn't locking,and I am wondering if that worked loose,could that throw up that code?.Also,apart from looking for obvious signs in the hoses,would there be any audible sounds given off if there is a problem with the intercooler?,and if the problem is a "realtime" problem,wouldn't it have happened again straight away after clearing the codes and running the car etc?.FELIXX.

    An EGR valve which is not functioning properly - ie not opening fully will give fault code P0400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Error.

    I was grasping at straws really.I just can't understand why it will go like stink,then suddenly go into limp mode then be ok again!!.FELIXX.

    Like i said, the intercooler would be my first port of call.
