    Smile Led lights

    Hi,
Bear with me as this is my first post, and hopefully I have attached a pic.
I have recently fitted the led lights at the bottom of the grill, with the intention of using them as DRL's. I have wired them up to a switch inside the cab so I can turn them on or off when the ignition is switched on. Does anyone know if these are road legal?

    Thanks

And what do you mean Rushy ...lol.

Well ive seen many BMW's with these so I'm guessing they are legal as they arn't projected lights.

its a contentious issue to be honest .....
there are several people who have been pulled and told to switch em off / get them removed as there not "factory fit"
some forces dont seem to be fussed and others do

in the position they are mounted it could be argued in court (at your expense if you loose the case) that they are indeed fog lamps dependant on how bright they are ...as they are mounted far below the driving lamps

some manufacturers DO have then mounted in the same place and have no issues ...but again the luminance and fact that they are a factory fit and are required by european law means they can get away with them

remember DRL's are there as they say....for daytime so when you have your normal lights switched on theses should turn off so not to cause dazzle/glare to other road users..

my best advice is if your unsure is to visit your local traffic unit and ask them for their opinion and take the name of the officer you speak to if he does give you the thumbs up...as then you would have a point of contact /defence for if yoru pulled over

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

The law is out dated as well because fog lights must be at least 21w which the leds will not be...
